I Commit to the Survival of Humanity

Humanity, we have a problem.

You might not have heard it put in these terms, but we humans are on the verge of polluting ourselves out of existence.

The last climate conference I attended, a climate expert said that 4–5 billion people could die in the next decades.

The Sixth Mass Extinction

The sixth mass extinction is underway and scientists report that climate emergency is spiraling out of control — imminently threatening our humanity.

First we lost countless sea-dwelling anaerobic bacteria who could not survive in oxygen.

Then we losing Arctic Ice and now 1000s of species are going extinct.

Now we’re in danger of losing the humans.

The clock is ticking.

This problem, even though so many of us want to deny it, isn’t going away.

That’s the bad news.

But there’s good news.

We can work together to restore a healthy climate for all of humanity now and for future generations.

Climate Restoration Emergency Action

We have a solution!

Worldwide “Climate Restoration Emergency Action” can ensure that humanity can survive on Earth for generations.

We must return atmospheric CO2 to safe pre-industrial levels by 2030 and restore Arctic ice to prevent permafrost melt and resulting disastrous methane emissions.

Climate restoration won’t be easy — in fact it will be the most challenging endeavor humanity has ever undertaken — but it can and urgently must be done, as fast as possible.

On MLK Day earlier this year, I launched Build A Movement 2020 (#BAM2020) to spark a patriotic revolutionary political movement.

My goal is to mobilize people to join together in a shared commitment to taking urgent “Climate Restoration Emergency Action” to restore a safe and healthy climate to ensure the survival of humanity, for ourselves and for future generations.

I am committed to mobilizing the full capabilities of our American society: the federal government, local governments, universities, academics, faith-based groups, and the private sector.

Who am I to call you to action?

I’m a father of five sons and I’m driven to take bold action today because I want my family and your families to have a survivable planet.

My work for the last 30 years to hold the United States and governments around the world accountable to save lives and now I’m focused on saving the human species and I am asking for you to join this effort.

Everyone, everywhere is urgently needed to deploy “Climate Restoration Emergency Action.”

It’s not workable any longer to stand by and watch all of humanity run like a herd of buffaloes off a cliff towards our almost certain probable extinction.

It is not Okay.

By taking action today and every day we can change this.

We must insist that the President of the United States, Congress, and local governments take “Climate Restoration Emergency Action” by October 1, 2019.

I am committed to demanding that our elected officials in federal, state, county, and city governments launch “Climate Restoration Emergency Action” by October 1, 2019.

I propose that…

… all Americans demand that our leaders pass legislation and launch a massive mobilization of people, resources, and companies on a global scale larger and faster than that of World War II for “Climate Restoration Emergency Action” to restore a safe and healthy climate for future generations by October 1, 2019.

… we demand that our leaders support holding emergency sessions to design and launch bold “Climate Restoration Emergency Action” to ensure the survival of all of humanity and future generations.

… all justice-hearted Americans convene together in a National People’s Convention as soon as possible that will enable us to recreate our country to be authentically operating as “by the people for the people” so that together we can ensure the survival of all of humanity.

As Winston Churchill said, “Nothing matters except victory in the existential struggle.“

Commit to Waging Justice

I have lived over half a century on this planet.

I have learned that each day I have the responsibility to choose the values by which I live by.

I commit my life to waging justice for everyone, everything, everywhere, now, and for future generations.

I am taking full responsibility for living my life by this commitment.

And I want you to join me.

Waging justice means that I am committed to the survival of all of humanity.

Waging justice means that I will use my life to unleash every ounce of innovation and action to urgently address the existential threat that we all face as humanity.

Waging justice means I am taking each person as precious — each person with unalienable rights to justice, equal agency and privilege, and ensuring the rights of our collective humanity to live winning lives, and finally to ensure the rights of our planet Earth to sustain humanity.

All of these rights are of equal value, right now today and for all future generations.

Waging justice means we can choose to rapidly eradicate injustice.

Today, we can take a stand and commit to mobilize ourselves in waging justice to create our country and our world as a place where social, economic, racial, gender, and environmental justice flourish forward.

We can finally recreate our government to be authentically functioning by the people, for the people.

All of our lives, our children’s lives and potential future generations, literally depend upon our courage to take bold and transformative action now.
